Katherine Ruocco, the Republican candidate for the state House seat in District 113, believes Illinois has a spending problem, with billions in unpaid bills that haven’t been paid down.

"Spending problem or revenue problem? Warning….tax hike is on the horizon," Ruocco said. "In 2011, Illinois had an $8.5 billion bill backlog, raised our taxes, collected an additional $31.6 billion from taxpayers to pay for the backlog. Now we have an estimated $9 billion in unpaid bills. Why wasn’t this debt paid down as promised? I don’t agree to yet another taxpayer bailout for our lawmakers’ reckless spending. What do you think?"

Ruocco runs her campaign on the proclamation that she is not a career politician and is instead a wife, mother, small business owner and legal advocate for seniors, veterans and the special needs community.

Her core campaign principles are her plan to put families back to work and her plan to spend less, tax less and grow the economy. She seeks to lead by example by helping to reform the state government, limit terms for state legislators and deliver real campaign finance reform.
