The Administrative and Community Services Committee for the City of Edwardsville recently convened to approve a playground construction bid.
The bid was awarded to Ecoturf Surfacing LLC in the amount of $10,106.25. Ecoturf will pour a recycled rubber playground surface at Joe Glik Park. The company is replacing the wood fiber product currently used as a cushioning material in the park ground. The project is funded through the Madison County Sustainability Grant.
The committee approved a resolution that authorizes the mayor to apply for community development block fund grants from Madison County. This is the second year the committee has applied, as only five to six communities per year receive the grant. The committee hopes to land the funds. This year, the application is for the improvement of the city’s storm water capabilities.
Present at the meeting were Craig Louer, Barb Stamer, Tom Butts, Scott Hanson, Cheryl Porter, Tammy Kehrer, Eric Williams, Jeff Berkbigler, Bob Pfeiffer, Jeff Mills and Matt Kamp.
