Granite City Council to examine standing committee reports

The Granite City Council will hear a presentation of city communications, listen to remarks from the mayor and examine the reports of its standing committees Tuesday.

The Downtown Committee will discuss planning, zoning, annexations, engineering and inspections, while the Public Works Committee plans to talk about an ordinance that would establish an eight-hour parking time limit in front of 2354 Iowa St.

The chairman of the Police Committee, Tim Elliott, will give the annual police department report for 2015, and Walmer Schmidtke, chairman of the Fire Committee, will announce recent resignations and new hires as well as a resolution that authorizes bid requests for the purchase of an ambulance.

Wastewater Treatment will discuss an ordinance to accept a grant agreement with the Illinois State Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. 

The Finance Committee will look to ratify the execution of a service agreement for the supply of electricity for customers who do not opt out of such a program.
