The city of Troy held a special City Council meeting Feb. 29 to approve an engineering agreement with Gonzalez Engineering for renovations and system upgrades at the water plant.
After discussion and a review of the agreement by the city administrator, the council passed the resolution unanimously.
The council then discussed financing options for these renovations and whether to use IEPA loans or alternative bonds.
Six council members were on board for alternative bonding, while Alderman Sam Italiano stated that he liked both options.
Mayor Allen Adomite closed by saying that the next phase of this project will be educating the public.
