Highland City Council convened Feb. 1 to approve the construction of a new clarifier at the Water Treatment Plant.
The council also examined an ordinance that would vacate the portion of Madison Street lying southwest of the western line of Deal Street. The ordinance was approved unanimously.
Other ordinances included one for regulating special events and one that rejected all bids submitted for the Poplar Street Fiber Innerduct Installation Project.
Also of note at the meeting was the public request made by Dick Conner, president of Misfit Motorsport Productions, for funding the Highland Automotive Swap Meet.
The council voted to give Conner $500 from the hotel/motel tax funds for marketing the event.
