Granite City Downtown Committee considers Rise Community Group proposal

The Rise Community Group is interested in redeveloping the Y.M.C.A. in Granite City into 40-45 units, with studio and retail spaces.

The Rise Community Group is interested in redeveloping the Y.M.C.A. in Granite City into 40-45 units, with studio and retail spaces.

The Downtown Committee for Granite City recently convened to hear a report from a representative from the Rise Community Development.

The representative noted that his group is a state-funded non-profit organization interested in redeveloping neighborhoods in the St. Louis metro area. The group would like to develop the Y.M.C.A. in Granite City.

After discussion, the committee agreed to begin negotiations with the Rise Community Development Group.

Present at the meeting were Nikki Petrillo, Dan Mcdowell, Paul Jackstadt, Ron Simpson, Tim Elliott, Brian Konzen, Ed Hagnauer, Judy Whitaker, Don Thompson, Bill Davis, Walmer Schmidtke, Bob Pickerell and Gerald Williams.
