The Alton Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee met Sept. 6 to discuss water quality efforts.

Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee
A special meeting of the CPEEC was called to order at 4:05 P.M., on September 6, 2016, at the Illinois American Water Treatment Plant, 1200 W. Broadway, Alton Members present: Chairman Wayne Politsch, Laura Asher, Zeke Jabusch, Alderman David Boulds, Randy Hausmann, and Jeff Dale
Members absent: Adam Peipert
Staff / Guests: Matt Asselmeier, Karen Cooper, Scott Quinonez, Sarah Boyd, and Dan Boyd
There were no changes to the agenda.
Operations Superintendent Karen Cooper, Production Supervisor Scott Quinonez, Water Quality Supervisor Sarah Boyd, and Working Foreman Maintenance Dan Boyd gave the Committee a tour of the plant. They provided a history of water treatment in Alton. They explained how they treated and monitored the water between the Mississippi River and customers’ homes. They discussed Illinois American Water Company’s environmental, energy efficiency, and water quality efforts. They also answered everyone’s questions regarding water treatment and provided tips for using water more efficiently. Committee members thanked the Staff of Illinois American Water Company for the tour.

The meeting adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
