Freeburg Electric Committee swaps surplus vehicles

Meeting 11

The village of Freeburg Electric Committee met Feb. 15 to swap surplus vehicles.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the committee:

Old business

Approval of January 11, 2017 minutes: Trustee Ray Matchett motioned to approve the January 11, 2017 minutes and trustee Dean Pruett seconded the motion. All voting yea, the motion carried.

Surplus equipment: Village administrator Tony Funderburg advised he will have the police car to surplus. Public works director John Tolan asked to swap out the old zoning car for the police car. The motorcycle will be up as soon as the title received.

New Electric customers: Shane advised has not gotten to it yet, working on Dollar tree, at sunset now on 9plex. That power had to go underground. Need to get it done before they side. Lake Dr. Sub have someone starting t build, in porcess of getting easements from Crowe and Threkheld, and will then move forward with that. Monroe new home will need el. Have a lot of new construction and Shane said out new guys seeing new stuff.

Customer issues: None

John would like to discuss OSHA in this morning. We have submitted our abatement certification and will comply with the OSHA recommendations. John advised we have a lot of things to implement. We are enforcing the no smoking policy, and how have a hard hat policy for entire public works department. Since we have put new policies in efect, all employees will read and sign off on the training. Now, the guys will have to fil out a work permit on certain items like trenching and shoring and confined spaces. OSHA wants documentation that we are following procedures. Administrator Funderburg said this will also get incorporated into the employee handbook. Ron Cook conducted OSHA training on gloving and PPE for the electric guys. Shane said he is looking into having him come back and periodically train. This will provide refresher training for linemen. His training is mainly safety focused and geared towards linemen. Attorney Keck suggested for all policies, document everything.

New business

Shane Krauss request to cash in 100 hours of comp time: Trustee Dean Pruett motioned to recommend to the full board Shane Krauss' request to cash in 100 hours of compensatory time and trustee Ray Matchett seconded the motion. All voting yea, the motion carried.

Adjourn: Trustee Ray Matchett motioned to adjourn at 5:44 p.m. and Trustee Dean Pruett seconded the motion. All voting yea the motion carried
