Village of Maryville met February 6.

Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:

I. Call to Order

a. Pam Waltermire opened the meeting at 7:03 pm.

II. Attendance

III. Approval of Minutes

a. Minutes motioned to be approved for November 2016 meeting minutes by Courtney,

seconded by Brenda. Motion passed.

IV. Recognition and Introduction of Guests/Public Comments

a. Nothing to report.

V. Public Input

a. No items.

VI. Correspondence

a. No items.

VII. Treasurer’s Report (Rachel O’Neill)

a. Income: No income report.

b. Expenses: No expenses.

VIII. Committee Reports / Old Business

a. Youth Recognition (Courtney)

i. Courtney received a lot of nominations in the high school category. She received two

(2) nominations in the elementary category and none in the middle school.

ii. The elementary students where recommended by the principal and a teacher.

1. Courtney read a summary of the two individuals.

2. Everyone concurred to give the individuals the award.

iii. They have three (3) recommended individuals for the high school category. Courtney

and the subgroup that reviewed the applicants narrowed down the selection to three

students and is asking the group at the meeting tonight to vote for two of the

individuals.

1. The committee made a primary and secondary selection. The secondary

selection was made in the event the primary selection’s parents do not wish

to allow the individual to accept the award.

iv. Once the winners are selected they will contact the individuals parents and the

individual who nominated them.

v. Motion by Rachel for approval of $150 to purchase plaques for the award winners.

Second by Mark. No discussion. Motion passed.

1. The goal for presenting the awards is the March 15th Trustee meeting.

Alternate dates would be April 5th or April 19th.

2. Additionally the award winners will be invited to the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast

on May 4th (first Thursday of May).

b. Yard of the Month

i. No items. Going to be starting soon.

c. Banners (Alice)

i. No significant updates.

d. Yard Sale - 2017

i. No update.

IX. New Business (Open Forum)

a. Discussion about getting Maryville’s small businesses more visibility by facilitating time or space to the 

Chamber Movie in the Parks. 

i. Discussion about allowing businesses to come to the event with a booth. Discussions did feel that there 

should be no transactions at that time, but leads and information sharing should the focus of the event. 

ii. Discussion also about using a projector to do a presentation on the screen prior to the movie to advertise 

businesses, award winners or other public pieces of information that may be beneficial to those in attendance. 

iii. First movie night is June 16th (Friday night).

4. Fall Large Trash Pickup - September 11th - 16th, 2017 

5. Fall Fest - TBD (although transitioned to the Kiwanians) 

6. Village After Hours - hosted in Maryville - October 2017

i. Chocolate Strawberries sale for the Hospital Auxiliary on February 13th and 14th, 2017.

a. Motion by Brenda and seconded by Addie. Meeting adjourned at 8:16pm. Motion passed. 

The next meeting will be March 6th, 2017 at 7:00pm at the Village Hall.
