The calls in Granite City included 41 fires - 11 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 25 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $86,252 in fire loss - or about $2,104 per fire.
The department also received 52 false calls.
One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.
The Granite City Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 55 active employees and 73 retired or inactive employees, was $3,330,845 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $81,240 for every fire in 2016.
