City of Belleville Parks & Recreation Board met August 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Belleville Parks and Recreation Department was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mr. Friederich, President of the Board.

Roll Cal Board Members (Alphabetical Order) Mr. Glenn Friederich, Mrs. Teresa Hessel, Ms. Dorothy Meyer, Mr. Tom Myatt. Ms. Marge Belt was excused from the meeting.

Roll Call Staff Members (Alphabetical Order) Mr. Jason Poole. Mrs. Debbie Belleville was excused from the meeting.

Weather Alert/Disaster Building Instructions-

Mr. Friederich asked if everyone in attendance was aware of the weather preparedness plan in place. Mr. Friederich explained the storm instructions.

Previous Minutes-

Mr. Friederich asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes for the July 12, 2017 meeting. Ms. Meyer made a motion that the minutes for July 12, 2017 be placed on file, the motion was seconded by Mrs. Hessel. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

Introduction of Guests and Public Participation-

None.

Correspondence-

None.

Claims-

Mrs. Hessel made a motion that the claims for the month of July, 2017 be paid, the motion was seconded by Mr. Myatt. A roll call vote was taken with all members votingaye. Motion carried.

Summary of Fund Balances-

Ms. Meyer made a motion to have the finance reports for the month of July, 2017 placed on file, the motion was seconded by Mr. Myatt. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

Bids-

Mr. Poole presented the board members with informal bid information compiled by Mrs. Belleville, Director of Parks and Recreation regarding an outdoor movie screen and audio equipment. Mr. Poole explained to the board members that currently the department rents equipment to have the annual Movie in the Park event. Mr. Poole stated that purchasing the equipment would allow the department to offer additional movies throughout the year as well as use it at Camp Quackers, Alphabet Academy, Kiddie Camp, Special events and Citywide events. Mr. Poole stated that Mrs. Belleville researched with other municipalities and park districts. Mr. Poole stated that Open Air was recommended based on the research. Discussion was held on the movie Screen and audio equipment bids.

Mrs. Meyer made a motion to accept the bid for the audio equipment from Open Air as presented in the amount of $7212.98. Seconded by Mrs. Hessel. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

Mrs. Meyer made a motion to accept the bid for the movie screen from Open Air as presented in the amount of $5,682.37. Seconded by Mr. Myatt. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

Director's Report/Director of Public Works Report-

Mr. Poole provided the board members with the OSLAD Grant site plan for Bicentennial Park. Mr. Poole explained that Mrs. Belleville has been working on the playground proposal for the grant. Mr. Poole explained the playground site plan and stated there will also be an all inclusive piece included for handicap accessibility. Discussion was held on the Bicentennial playground site plan.

Mr. Poole provided the board members with the Tour de Belleville revenue and expense report. Mr. Poole informed the board members there were 2105 registered riders for the event. Mr. Poole stated the profit for the event was $20,333.83. Discussion was held on the Tour de Belleville.

Mr. Poole informed the board members that the Laderman Fitness Stations are currently being worked on and getting near completion. Mr. Poole stated this project was the result of a St. Clair County Grant that was awarded. Mr. Poole stated the grant was for 100% of project cost.

Hearing no further New Business, Old Business or Questions from the Floor. Ms. Meyer moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mrs. Hessel. All members voted aye. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
