City of Alton Civil Service Commission met October 4.

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

A regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 8:15am on October 4, 2017, at

Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.

Members Present: Terry Bristow, Vicki Searles-Williams, Jonas Janek

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Civil Service Attorney Patrick King

Guests Present: Sgt Michael O’Neill and PFC William Pierson

A motion was made by Mr. Janek and seconded by Ms. Williams to approve the minutes of the regular

meeting on September 20, 2017. Motion passed.

Sgt O’Neill and PFC Pierson addressed the Commission regarding O’Neill’s rejection to test for

Lieutenant. They requested the Commission allow him to test for the position despite he will not have

met the required time as Sergeant by test date or list expiration. The issue was tabled for further

discussion.

Job description and requisition for Park and Recreations Maintenance VI was signed.

Job description and requisition for Park Maintenance Operations Supervisor was signed.

Requisition for PFC Espinoza’s promotion to Sergeant was signed.

Requisition for Jailer position was signed.

Requisition for Police Officer was signed.

Mr. Bristow made motion to vote to extend the current Captain List for one year at expiration, seconded

by Mr. Janek. All in favor. Motion passed.

Mr. Janek made a motion to vote to enact the Lateral Entry Eligibility List good for one year, seconded

by Ms. Williams. All in favor. Motion passed.

With no further business, Ms. Williams made a motion, seconded by Mr. Bristow to adjourn at 9:10am.

Motion passed.
