City of Belleville Parks & Recreation Board met Dec. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Belleville Parks and Recreation Department was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mr. Friederich, President of the Board.

Roll Call Board Members (Alphabetical Order) Ms. Marge Belt, Mr. Glenn Friederich, Ms. Dorothy Meyer, Mr. Tom Myatt. Mrs. Teresa Hessel was excused from the meeting.

Roll Call Staff Members (Alphabetical Order) Mrs. Debbie Belleville, Mr. Jason Poole.

Weather Alert/Disaster Building instructions

Mr. Friederich asked if everyone in attendance was aware of the weather preparedness plan in place. Mr. Friederich explained the storm instructions.

Previous Minutes

Mr. Friederich asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes for the August 9, 2017 meeting. Ms. Belt made a motion that the minutes for September 13, 2017 be placed on file, the motion was seconded by Mr. Myatt. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

Introduction of Guests and Public Participation

None.

Correspondence

Mrs. Belleville read a thank you card from the Westhaven Neighborhood Association thanking the department for their support with picnic tables for the annual neighborhood event.

Claims

Ms. Belt made a motion that the claims for the month of September, 2017 be paid, the motion was seconded by Mr. Myatt. A roll call vote was taken with all members votingaye. Motion carried.

Summary of Fund Balances

Ms. Belt made a motion to have the finance reports for the month of September, 2017 placed on file, the motion was seconded by Mr. Myatt. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

Bids

None.

Director of Parks & Recreation

Mrs. Belleville informed the board members that there has been a tree marked to be installed in the dog park to replace the ones that were removed. Mrs. Belleville informed the board members that there will also be two single post shade canopies installed. Mrs. Belleville stated that there is a ten year warranty on the blue canopies. Mrs. Belleville stated there is money in the budget to also install some other amenities such as a bench possibly. Discussion was held on the dog park improvements.

Mrs. Belleville informed the board members that the Bi-Centennial grant construction needs to begin in November to meet the required timeline. Mrs. Belleville stated the playground has been approved by DNR. Discussion was held on the grant requirements. Mrs. Belleville stated the completion deadline for the grant is June, 2018.

Director of Public Works Report

Mr. Poole informed the board members the tree remediation that was part of the Hofbrauhaus project stating any trees removed had to be replaced within the city. Mr. Poole stated there will be 147 trees that will be planted in the parks. Mr. Poole stated the trees will be planted Monday in Bellevue Park, Laderman Park, Citizen's Park, Hough Park, 911 Memorial, and Buddy Ebsen Park. Discussion was held on the tree planting.

Mr. Poole informed the board members that there is a contractor on site working at Southside Park for the Completion of the OSLAD Grant that is due by December, 2017. Discussion was held on Southside Park improvements. Mr. Poole informed the board members that the Southside improvement Association building has been Condemned and will be torn down in the near future.

Old Business

Mrs. Belleville informed the board members that the black-out and premium rate holidays that were previously discussed regarding the Stone Lodge are going to council for final approval. Mrs. Belleville stated the blackout days will be, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Mrs. Belleville stated all other city holidays will be a $50.00 additional charge for the rental.

Hearing no further New Business, Old Business or Questions from the Floor. Ms. Belt moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ms. Meyer. All members voted aye. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
