Alton ADA Committee met October 18.
Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:
A meeting of the ADA Committee was called to order at 10:00 a.m., on October 18, 2017, at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.
Members Present: Margaret Renken, Mary Boulds, Mike Harvey, Mike Haynes, Wendy Settles and Chairman Deanna Barnes
Chairman thanked everyone for their input and assistance with the plan update.
Wendy Settles made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 20, 2017 meeting, seconded by Mike Harvey. Motion passed unanimously.
The Committee reviewed the proposed Transition Plan. Wendy Settles reported that she has a contact that could review our website for free and would send the contact. Committee thought we were making good progress on our plan with the new construction of the Gordon Moore Concession Stand and curb cuts being completed by the public works department. Deanna will contact Brett Stawar to review the pressure on the door at the CVB. Margaret reported that there is a handicapped sign designating parking spaces at Fire Station #1 and #2. Deanna reported that Cathy Contarino reviewed 459A Broadway and the building is a low priority unless the city occupies the building for offices and will need to be re-evaluated at that time.
Michael Haynes reported that an accessible path is being constructed from the new accessible playground to the parking lot and to the new accessible bathrooms that are being built. Great improvement and the new bathroom will match the new concession stand with building completion in February.
Margaret made a motion to approve the proposed ADA Transition Plan, seconded by Mary Harvey. Motion passed unanimously.
Mary Boulds will assist with reviewing the scheduling to make sure it is appropriate. The proposed public comment period will be from November 6, 2017 until December 5, 2017. The open house will be at City Hall on November 13th from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Due to the small number of people that have attended in previous years, only one (1) open house will occur this year. The public hearing before the City Council, pending approval, will be December 20th, 2017. If the schedule holds, the planned date for adoption is January 10, 2018. Wendy Settles made a motion to approve the dates of the comment period and open house, seconded by Michael Haynes. Motion passed unanimously.
There were no next steps, other business, or comments from the public.
Margaret made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mike Harvey. Motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
