Analysis: East Alton pays $3.76 for every $1 pensioners contribute to East Alton Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 79 percent of the $202,618 the East Alton Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $3.76 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, East Alton contributed $160,072 to the fund, which saw a $12,753 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $42,546, or 21 percent, in 2016.
