Analysis: Edwardsville pays $3.68 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Edwardsville Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 78.2 percent of the $913,902 the Edwardsville Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $3.68 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Edwardsville contributed $714,809 to the fund, which saw a $69,125 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $193,989, or 21.2 percent, in 2016. Another $5,104 came from other unspecified sources.
