Report: Brooklyn spent $20,674 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Brooklyn Unit School District 188 is up 29 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the St. Clair County school district spent $16,026 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $20,674 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 156 to 132.

Brooklyn's spending in 2016-17 was 59 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
