Rep. Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) shared some 4-H love at the May 22 House floor debate.
“Standing behind me today for the last 4-H Legislative Connection is Debra Stocker,” Meier said.
Starting at the University of Illinois in 1980, Stocker became the first 4-H adviser in Clinton County, he added.

“In 1991, she joined the staff at the 4-H office as the statewide events coordinator focusing on teen leadership,” Meier said. “She developed the Speaking for Illinois 4-H program and started the evolution of 4-H Legislative Connection that you see here today.”
After the 2018 Illinois State Fair, Stocker will retire after 37 years of service to the program, according to Meier.
“When her husband retires in three years she will move back to her family farm in Madison County,” Meier said, proudly noting that is the district he governs.
Meier concluded asking the House floor to applaud Stocker for her leadership, which lawmakers were glad to do.
