O'FALLON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Nearly 300 Memorial Employees Honored; Sandra Griesbaum named Employee of the Year

O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 6.

Nearly 300 Memorial Hospital Belleville, Memorial Hospital East, Memorial Care Center and Belleville Health and Sports Center employees were honored with service awards at Memorial’s annual Employee Recognition Dinner held on May 11 and Sandra Griesbaum, RN was named as Memorial’s 2017-2018 Employee of the Year out of 12 Employee of the Month candidates.

Griesbaum, a registered nurse in the post anesthesia care unit (PACU) at Memorial Hospital Belleville, has worked at Memorial for nearly 42 years. Her co-workers describe her as a living, breathing example of Memorial’s mission statement as well as meticulously thorough. A resident of Waterloo, Griesbaum is highly respected for her clinical expertise and support of her peers.

A colleague said Sandy is the kind of nurse she would want taking care of her or her family. “PACU nurses use Sandy as a resource for critical questions. Her attention to detail and her caring demeanor also makes her an exceptional preceptor for new staff,” said Vickie Henry, RN, outpatient surgery department manager.

Other “Employee of the Year” finalists included: Ryan Clements of Belleville, Glenda Martiszus of Belleville, Lisa Yates of Belleville, Deborah Laywell of Belleville, Cora Minor of Belleville, Kimberly Conner of Millstadt, Erin Kuhn of Venedy, Stella Rains of O’Fallon, Natalie Ketrow of New Baden, Anne Ruggiero of Swansea and Lacy Otten of St. Libory.

Four employees were recognized for 45 years of service including Alice Arras of Columbia, Margaret Timmerman of Trenton, Mary Weilbacher of Millstadt and Marge Litteken of Trenton. Eight employees were honored for 40 years of service including Sandra Heightman of Swansea, Julia Sauls of Belleville, Vickie Beisiegel of Freeburg, Barbara Heinlein of Columbia, Christine Moddrell of Freeburg, Candance Sanford of Collinsville, Nancy Truttman of Smithton and Susan Stemler of Columbia. Cheryl Klein of New Athens, Sandra O’Donnell of Millstadt, Susan Heidemann of Fairview Heights, Michelle Meentemeyer of Addieville, Thomas Munie of Collinsville, Judy Tulis of O’Fallon, James Heise of Collinsville and Linda Halstead of Belleville were recognized for 35 years of service.

Hospital, Care Center and Belleville Health and Sports Center employees also were presented with five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 year service awards.
