Freeburg FPD responds to 35 fires in 2017

Freeburg Fire Protection District responded to 56 calls in 2017 - 12.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Freeburg included 35 fires - 13 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 17 other fires.

In all, the department saw $71,850 in fire loss - or about $2,053 per fire.

The department also received 21 false calls, including one malicious call and 20 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.

The Freeburg Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $332,085 in 2017.
