Local gov stock 01

City of O'Fallon issued the following announcement on June 25.

The City of O’Fallon is now accepting resumes from residents of Ward 5 interested in serving as Alderman. The deadline for applications is Friday, July 20, 2018. Resumes can be submitted to Jamie Bordoni at jbordoni@ofallon.org or dropped off at City Hall, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“There are a lot of O’Fallon citizens in Ward 5 that would do a great job on the City Council,” said Mayor Herb Roach. “I would like to open up the opportunity for any residents of Ward 5 to apply to fill the vacant seat on the City Council.”

After reviewing resumes, Mayor Herb Roach will make a recommendation to the City Council prior to the August 6, 2018 City Council Meeting. The O’Fallon City Council must vote to accept the recommendation prior to September 5, 2018.

The open Alderman position is due the resignation of Alderwoman Courtney Marsh. If selected, the candidate would hold the position until the April 2019 election. Only residents of Ward 5 can apply for the vacant position. O’Fallon’s ward boundaries can be found at http://ofallon.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=3bf535e5c0444be3be3a959346fd56af.

State law requires that the mayor must forward a replacement to the City Council within 60 days after the vacancy occurs. The City Council then has 30 days to approve the appointment. There are no requirements in the state law on how the mayor selects the replacement.
