Edwardsville state House candidate Katie Stuart received another $126,436 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Sept. 29 and Oct. 17, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Katie Stuart, the campaign committee that supports Stuart’s race against Republican Dwight Kay in the 112th District.
The district covers all or part of Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Granite City, Collinsville, Fairview Heights and O’Fallon.
Madigan’s contributions to Stuart came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $1,829,608 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Sept. 29 to Oct. 17, Madigan spent $4.37 million backing campaigns for 25 candidates.
