ST. ELIZABETH'S HOSPITAL: Offers Veterans Choice Plan (VPC) Health Care Options for Veterans

Health literacy

St. Elizabeth's Hospital issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is reminding veterans that the hospital participates in the Veterans Choice Program. This program gives veterans an opportunity to receive services at St. Elizabeth’s, instead of waiting for a VA appointment or traveling to a VA facility and it is paid for by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Veterans must meet certain criteria and work with the Veterans Affairs Department to use the Veterans Choice Program.

“St. Elizabeth’s Hospital has been a collaborative and supportive neighbor to Scott Air Force Base for decades. This program is another option for our military service men and women to access quality health care when they need it,” said St. Elizabeth’s Hospital president and CEO Patti Fischer. “With our close proximity to the base and our many partnerships and programs, this is another option that we are proud to offer.”

It is important to note that the Veterans Choice Program does not impact existing VA health care or any other VA benefit.

Veterans can check of eligibility requirements by going to http://www.va.gov/opa/choiceact or by calling toll-free 1-866-606-8198.
