Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 issued the following announcement on Dec. 12.
On December 11, 2018, Collinsville High School honored local veterans by inviting them to the school’s annual Veterans Lunch.
The special guests – many are friends and relatives of students – saw a special performance by the CHS choir, followed by lunch in the cafeteria and dessert in the school’s library.
The veterans were given VIP treatment all around the school, including a standing ovation as they entered and left the cafeteria. Veterans received cards of appreciation, as well as a bag of baked treats prepared by Sodexo food service.
The lunch is organized each year by CHS Teacher Barbara Lindauer. The December date was chosen to allow veterans to attend other events on Veterans Day in November.
