Edwardsville Community Unit School District 7 issued the following announcement on Jan 16.
It’s been nearly two years since Proposition E, a tax rate increase to the District 7 education fund, passed. Its passage has begun to provide District 7 with $6.9 million annually in extra funding which will allow the District to eliminate its over $6 million operating debt and begin establishing cash reserves.
During the Prop E campaign, the district vowed to use the funds to stabilize the district’s finances as well as address three key areas that needed immediate attention — updating curriculum and re-establishing a curriculum update development cycle, as well as updating school security and technology.
