Report: Brooklyn spent $22,727 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Brooklyn Unit School District 188 is up 37.9 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Saint Clair County school district spent $16,480 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $22,727 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 152 to 124.

Brooklyn's spending in 2017-18 was 70.4 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
