Report: New Athens spent $11,738 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at New Athens Community Unit School District 60 is up 24 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Saint Clair County school district spent $9,467 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $11,738 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 512 to 505.

New Athens's spending in 2017-18 was 12 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
