The price of local government in 2017: City of Wood River

The City of Wood River budget was $27.34 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $7,270 per household.

That's an increase of 1.2 percent from 2016, when the city spent $27.01 million, or $7,185 per household.

Wood River has 3,760 households and a population of 10,657.

Since 2001, the City of Wood River budget has grown by 30.1 percent, from $21.02 million. The city population has fallen 7.2 percent over the same period, from 11,490.

Salaries accounted for 18.9 percent of city spending in 2017. Wood River property taxpayers paid $5.16 million for 65 full-time employees and 124 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 80 full-time employees and 150 part-time employees, and spent $5.33 million.
