Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 issued the following announcement on July 24.

During June 2019, four Collinsville High School rising seniors had the opportunity to attend the 2019 High School Hispanic Leadership Institute hosted by the HCC STL Foundation of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis.

The High School Hispanic Leadership Institute is a “skills-based leadership training program with the goal to develop the next generation of Hispanic Leaders in the St. Louis community.” It focuses on three core competences: leading oneself, leading others and leading an organization.

The program provided students from throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area “professional development training led by industry professionals and distinguished professors with years of experience in diverse fields and academic settings.” Students also had the opportunity to visit several college campuses to learn about college and gather university-specific information.

This year CHS was represented by four rising seniors: Edgar Calderon, Alondra Munoz, Monserrat Munoz and Ashley Sanchez. They represent the largest group of Collinsville High School seniors since the school began participating the Institute three years ago.
