City of Alton Civil Service Commission met July 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

A regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 8:13am on July 17, 2019 at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.

Members Present: Michael Drake, Vicki Searles-Williams, Terry Bristow

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Civil Service Attorney Patrick King

Guests Present: None

A motion was made by Ms. Williams and seconded by Mr. Drake to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on July 3, 2019. Motion passed.

Requisition for Jailer was signed.

Requisition for Garage Maintenance was signed.

Two promotional Requisitions were signed for PFC Garland and PFC Lutman.

Retirement form for Debbie Beck was signed.

Motion was made by Terry Bristow and seconded by Ms. Williams to approve the updated job description for Garage Maintenance III (Parts Clerk).

The following from the Police Department were discussed:

Letter of Recognition for April 2019 to PO Mathew Tranter.

Officer of the Month for April 2019 to PO Evan Bailey.

Letter of Recognition for May 2019 to PFC Brian Brenner.

Co-Officer of the Month for May 2019 to PO Clinton McNear and Detective Andrew Pierson.

2 Letters of Reprimand.

A phone interview was requested from a Police Officer Lateral Entry candidate. The request was denied by the commission.

Mr. Drake made a motion to vote to leave the SWIL Consortium for Police Officer testing, seconded by Ms. Williams.

Ms. Williams made a motion to vote to approve the background of Records Clerk applicant Sarah Barrett, seconded by Mr. Drake.

Three interviews were held for the Communications Clerk position.

With no further business, Mr. Bristow made a motion, seconded by Ms. Williams to adjourn at 9:15am. Motion passed.
