O'FALLON COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 90: October Teacher of the Month

Honorroll

O'Fallon Community Consolidated School District 90 recently issued the following announcement.

Congratulations to the October D90 Teacher of the Month, sponsored by Kelly Young of RealStar Illinois--Mrs. Mel Haerr!

Mrs. Haerr is a first grade teacher at Hinchcliffe. She has been teaching in the O’Fallon School District for 15 years and has positively transformed the lives of hundreds of kids during this time.

Mrs. Haerr served in the Air Force for 9 years. She has a passion for teaching. What sets her apart from others is her ability to instill pride within her students - for themselves, for each other, for their community and for their country. By inviting military personnel, high school ROTC students and other community resources into her classroom, she is able to promote civic responsibility and patriotism to her students. Mrs. Haerr values and appreciates our country and inspires her students to do the same.

Mrs. Haerr willingly accepts, and exceeds, the challenge of meeting the needs of every single child in the classroom. She embraces every student and teaches each as if he/she was the only child in her classroom. Principal Carroll said, "Mrs. Haerr incorporates whole body listening, yoga, and mindfulness into her class on a regular basis, and truly has a heart bigger than anyone I have ever met. Her passion and dedication to teaching kids is second to none, and she honestly is one of the most patient and genuine people you will ever know. Every district, every school and every student needs a Mrs. Haerr! She makes teaching exciting, which makes learning fun, and she turns an everyday lesson into a masterpiece. If you need inspiration or need to be reminded what teaching is all about….go visit Mrs.Haerr’s room. You will not be disappointed!"

This month's staff awards program was made possible by Kelly Young of RealStar Illinois. D90 appreciates Kelly's generous support! http://www.realstarillinois.com/about-us.htm
