Foster Township trustee and GOP candidate for state representative in the 111th District Amy Elik (R-Alton) sees her background as aligning almost perfectly with what she believes Illinois needs most right now.
“As a CPA and auditor with over two decades of experience, I served as a trusted financial advisor on behalf of my clients,” Elik said in a press release. “Given Illinois’ poor fiscal condition, we need people who can audit financial records, ask tough questions and push for fiscally responsible solutions that do not additionally burden taxpayers.”
Elik argues that incumbent state Rep. Monica Bristow (D-Alton) has been nothing like what she promised voters she would be.

“In the last legislative session, the current representative broke her promise of stopping wasteful spending,” Elik said. “In fact, the only promise she kept was her desire to increase her salary – something she accomplished in the last days of the legislative session.”
A staunch anti-abortion and Second Amendment rights advocate, Elik now previously served as a school board member with St. Mary’s Catholic School in Alton.
The 111th is a metro east district in Illinois that contains all or part of Alton, Bethalto, East Alton, Edwardsville, Elsah, Godfrey, Granite City, Hartford, Madison, Pontoon Beach, Roxana, South Roxana and Wood River.
