Alton Historical Commission met Oct. 15.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Doug Bader, Deanna Barnes, Chase Green, Diane Plummer, Charlene Walker
MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Mary Anderson-Kellum, Monica Mason
OTHERS PRESENT: Jon Leavitt, Becky Brunaugh - Secretary, Kevin Grove – Secretary
The meeting of the Alton Historic Commission was called to order by Chairman Doug Bader at 7:00 p.m. on October 15, 2019.
Diane Plummer made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Charlene Walker seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
APPLICATION: Jon Leavitt presented the application for 119 E 5th St. He is installing a dog- ear privacy fence on the west side of his drive from the rear of the property to the face of the house. From there, he is installing a dog-ear picket fence to within 8’ of the street. On the east side, he is installing sections of tan vinyl fencing to fill in the gaps between bushes.
Chairman Bader made the suggestion to use only wood instead of multiple materials to construct the fence. He also suggested that the fence be built sandwiched between the posts.
Chase Green made a motion to approve the application using all wood materials. Diane Plummer seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Chase Green gave an update on the ordinance amendment. A discussion was held.
There being no further discussion or comment from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
