Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 12th district since 2015, has recently addressed concerns over foreign ownership of American farmland, announced a live telephone town hall, and promoted resources for veterans in Southern Illinois through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On July 19, 2025, Bost expressed concern about foreign investment in U.S. agricultural land. He stated, "We cannot allow foreign adversaries to quietly buy up America’s farmland and threaten our food supply and national security. These hostile regimes are not just buying property; they are positioning themselves to undermine our economy and control key parts of our food system. I".
Two days later, on July 21, 2025, Bost informed constituents about an upcoming virtual event: "REMINDER: Tonight at 6:15pm I'll be hosting a live telephone town hall. You can register at https://t.co/FDJJB0k8zI or dial in directly at (833) 364-1476. Hope to hear from you soon as we go over the One Big, Beautiful Bill and my latest work in Congress."
Later that same day, he addressed veterans in his district with information about an upcoming event: "To Southern Illinois veterans attending the Du Quoin State Fair: the Marion VA will host a Veteran Resource Fair on July 25th from 11am to 2pm at the Second Heat Annex on the State Fair Grounds. Bost has represented Illinois’s 12th District in Congress since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1995 to 2015 and served on the Jackson County Board between 1984 and 1988. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois in 1960, Bost continues to reside there today. He is also a graduate of the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy.
