Freeburg Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Today is Small Business Saturday and it is much more than a name and certainly much more than a marketing gimmick. In a commerce season increasingly by big box store madness on Black Friday and online retailers getting a slice of the action on Cyber Monday, it is important that we have a day to recognize small business.
Small business has always been the backbone of American communities. These establishments serve the community, create jobs in the community, and pay taxes in the community. They are driven by your friends and your neighbors. Small business is the spitting image of the American dream; an avenue through which an individual can better their life and the life of their family and find freedom and success through hard work.
