2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in zip code 62040?

There were 81 offenders released on parole during 2019 that live near Illinois zip code 62040, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Metro East Sun.

The data shows that 68 men and 13 women were released in Granite City zip code. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was an 18-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was an 25-year-old man convicted of homicide in 1980.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Clarence Armstrong. He was convicted of homicide in 1980, when he was 25 years old. He is now 65.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
