Cost of college was unchanged for all students at Southwestern Illinois College

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at Southwestern Illinois College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $12,240 to attend the two-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-residents paid 29.7 percent more than residents this year, or $15,870. Their price tag was unchanged from $15,870 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 63 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 468 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million and 174 students took out student loans totaling more than $586,406.

Including all undergraduates (8,841), 3,905 students used grants or scholarships totaling $18.7 million, and 1,138 students took out $4.9 million in federal student loans.
