Freeburg FPD responds to 22 fires in 2018

Freeburg Fire Protection District responded to 42 calls in 2018 - 25 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Freeburg included 22 fires - 17 structure fires, two vehicle fires and three other fires.

In all, the department saw $406,500 in fire loss - or about $18,477 per fire.

The department also received 20 false calls, including one malicious call and 19 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Freeburg Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $333,671 in 2018.
