Cottage Hills Fire Protection District responded to 24 calls in 2018 - 50 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Cottage Hills included 23 fires - 15 structure fires, four vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $228,500 in fire loss - or about $9,935 per fire.

The department also received one false call, including one malicious call.

The Cottage Hills Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $93,833 in 2018.
