City of Edwardsville Band Board Met May 24.

Meeting held at Edwardsville City Hall, 118 Hillsboro Ave., Edwardsville, IL 62025.
Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Chairman Wehling.
Attendance:
All board members present.
Also attending: Band Director Jim Kerfoot
Approval of prior meeting minutes:
Approval of minutes from 2019 were waived y Wehling.
Treasury Report:
Discussion of 2021 Budget
Bills:
Jim Smothers – web site development and maintenance - May 2021 – April 2022. $480.00
Midwest Sheet Music – 6 music arrangements $409.50

New Business:
- Covid update – discussion of transition to Phase 5 and possibly going to Phase 5 state of Illiois guidelines.
- Discussion of starting concert season for 2021. Leclaire concert on 6-27-21. Then July 1st – concert at city park. July 3rd – City’s Legion event.
- Discussion of rehearsal venue – Main Street Community Center still under restrictions. Trinity Lutheran and High School were discussed. High School not available this year due to construction.
- Discussion of band personnel. – most members are willing to play. Kerfoot has told members if health concerns they should not play this year. Board cannot guarantee social distancing or other members being vaccinated. However, we will try to social distance as much as possible.
- Discussion of concert concession stand. Restrictions would be needed to only allow for pre-packed food and drinks. This will cut down on profits and organizations may not want to participate, so it was decided that the concession stand should be eliminated for this year.
- Brief discussion of concert ideas to improve attendance. Themed concerts etc.
- Brief discussion of band member survey taken after 2019 concert season. Main points were music played. Increasing attendance, paying band more than annually, advertising.
- Board members were given a proposed meeting schedule and dates were finalized.
