Report: East St Louis School District spent $18,106 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at East St Louis School District 189 was up 17.2 percent from five years ago, according to the Metro East Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Saint Clair County school district spent $15,448 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $18,106 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 6,086 to 5,209 students over the same period.

East St Louis's spending in 2019-20 was 24.9 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
