Report: Alton School District spent $11,149 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Alton Community Unit School District 11 was down 7 percent from five years ago, according to the Metro East Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Madison County school district spent $11,985 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $11,149 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 6,489 to 6,083 students over the same period.

Alton's spending in 2019-20 was 23.1 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
