McKendree University junior attackers Kat Albrecht (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) and Sydney Tiemann (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) were each named as Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Midwest Region selections on Thursday.
Both players were named Second-Team selections and are now eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced on May 19.
It marks the first time since 2019 that McKendree has had two IWLCA All-Midwest Region Team selections as Hannah Sugarman and Emily Nelson were both second team selections that season.
Albrecht repeats as a Second-Team IWLCA All-Midwest Region selection after recording a team-leading 66 goals, which was second-most in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. In addition to being second in the league in goals scored, she was also second in the league in points (86) and points per game (5.06). On the season, she also recorded 20 assists, which was tied for fourth-most in the league and was second on the team in shots with 142. She is the school's all-time leader in points with 301, which bettered the old record of 298 points set by Dana DiPasquale from 2015-18. Her 176 career goals are second most in school history, while her 125 career assists are also second most in school history. Albrecht, who was a repeat First-Team All-GLVC selection this season, had six or more points in eight games and scored five or more goals in a game eight times on the year.
Tiemann earns her first career IWLCA All-Midwest Region accolade this season after being second on the team and third in the GLVC in goals scored with 63. In addition to her 63 goals, she also led the team in shots (160) and was second in assists with nine and second in points with 71, which was fourth among all GLVC players. Tiemann, who was a First-Team All-GLVC selection this season, also had three game winning goals and 20 ground balls on the year and recorded 107 draw controls, which is third most in a season in program history. She recorded five or more goals in a game five times, including a single game school record nine goals in a game this season at Missouri Western State. With her 63 goals this season, Tiemann has recorded 101 in her career, which is 10th most in school history.
The IWLCA All-Region Team was dominated by players from the GLVC as the league had a combined 17 players selected to one of the two teams with Indianapolis leading the way with eight overall selections, including five first team honorees. Overall, the Midwest All-Region team featured 31 players from seven different schools.
In addition to UIndy's eight selections, Lindenwood and Grand Valley State were next with six overall selections, while Regis had five players honored. McKendree was the only other school in the region to have multiple All-Region selections.
Albrecht and Tiemann led the Bearcats to an 8-9 overall record on the season and a 4-3 mark in the GLVC. The Bearcats advanced to the GLVC Tournament for the second consecutive season as they earned the No. 4 seed.
