Illinois State Rep. Amy Elik (R-Alton) is doing her part to make sure people who want to participate in the upcoming election can do so by ensuring they are registered to vote.

In a May 16 Facebook post, Elik shared information about how to make sure you'll be able to cast your ballot.

"I like that the state board of elections is providing some answers to frequently asked questions, so I'll keep sharing these," Elik wrote in her post.

In the post, Elik shared a link to a YouTube video from The Illinois State Board of Elections that explains how people who live in Illinois can make sure they are registered to vote. According to the video, checking your registration status is as simple as typing your name into the "Am I registered to vote in Illinois?" section on the state Board of Elections website.

Elik previously shared a graphic in a May 18 Facebook post that aimed to serve as an explainer for how to vote by mail in Illinois, which was also explained in a social media post put forth by the State Board of Elections.

Deadlines for registration to vote by mail and answers to other frequently asked questions can be found on the State Board of Elections website.
