Senator Terri Bryant is hosting various events to meet with her community as the June 28 election date inches closer.
“We are offering several opportunities (soon) to discuss issues of importance to all in the 58th District,” Bryant wrote on Facebook. “I hope to see you at one of these upcoming events.”
Ballotpedia wrote her term ends on Jan. 13, 2023.
The events will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Marissa Public Library on 212 North Main Street in Marissa, Ill.; and again from 7 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Reid's Harvest House on 2440 State Street in Chester, Ill.; and again from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the same day at Alongi's Italian Restaurant on 18 West Main Street in Du Quoin, Ill.
Bryant runs for the Republican party. One topic she added her voice to was the leaked opinion that the Supreme Court wants to overturn Roe v. Wade, something she supports.
“As a strong supporter of our independent court system, I am outraged that someone with a political motivation would disperse a draft, unconfirmed decision from the Supreme Court to the media to try to intimidate our Supreme Court Justices and stoke radical political elements into a frenzy in an attempt to change the court’s decision,” Bryant wrote on her website.
Beyond her political work, she’s involved with her community. In May, she cheered the students in her Youth Advisory Council.
“This won't be the last time you see the young people from my Youth Advisory Council,” Bryant wrote in the tweet. “I believe one or more of this crew will be our future elected officials.”
Outside of the office, she runs a business called the Bluebell Restaurant in Murphysboro, Ill.
Also in May, she attended the White County Republicans’ Lincoln Day Dinner.
“Fantastic crowd at the Lincoln Day Dinner in Carmi last evening,” Bryant wrote on Facebook. “Big crowd joining great candidates, all discussing the upcoming Illinois Primary Election.”
