City of Edwardsville Foreign Fire Insurance Board met Sept. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order at 1300. Members present were Heuchert, Rieger, Kemper, Signorotti, J. Sweetman and Whiteford. Wilfong and Gooden absent.

Visitors Cruz, Morgan, T Sweetman, Hall and Anderson present.

Minutes of the previous meeting read. Motion by J Signorotti, 2nd by Rieger to approve as presented. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report presented. Current balance $64,802.54. Approx $41,016.82 available for this meeting including outstanding approvals and recurring expenses. Cutoff for submitting reimbursement for gear allowance purchases is today.

Request for Expenditures – New

- Request from Huber for funds to purchase everyone on the dept a pair of work coveralls. Coveralls would be used for work around the station or for training to not ruin uniforms. Approx cost $2400. Discussion. 4 yes, 1 no. Motion carried.

- Request from Whiteford/Hall for funds to purchase GoPro cameras for both chief’s vehicles. Chief has been recording fire scenes with his personal phone for a while now. Recordings would be for training purposes. Asking for $350 per camera and $50 for accessories. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Whiteford to approve. Discussion. 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.

- Request from Hartsoe for funds to purchase a new grill for Station 3. Funds NTE $300. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Kemper to approve. Discussion. Heuchert amended motion to NTE $1000, 2nd by Kemper. 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.

- Request from Mayfield for a flattop grill for Station 1. Grill is $799 plus accessories. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Rieger to approve. Discussion. Heuchert amended motion to NTE $1000 for a Blackstone, 2nd by Rieger. 4 yes, 1 abstain. Motion carried.

New Business

- Elections will be held prior to the next meeting. Rieger, Heuchert and Wilfong are up this year.

- Rieger discussed recurring newspaper subscriptions. Discussion. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Kemper to cancel the Alton Telegraph subscription for 2023. Discussion. 4 yes, 1 no. Motion carried.

Motion by Signorotti, 2nd by Heuchert to adjourn.
