About $650,000 in street resurfacing projects are included in Collinsville's 2023 Capital Improvement Plan which council members were recently briefed about during a public meeting.

Senior Planner Travis Taylor presented the plan, which included the street projects and where the projects would take place, during the council's meeting on January 9.

"Those are the 23 streets included right now," Taylor said during the meeting. "I want to make sure that everybody understands that list is subject to change based on how those conditions, those roads get worse or better, or other roads that are not on that list may deteriorate to the point that they need to get up there."

The council was given a breakdown of the projects by both type and city department. Not surprisingly, the streets department had the most projects slated for the upcoming year.

There are 89 projects planned this year within Collinsville. Most of those projects across all city departments were equipment-related, whether it was obtaining new equipment or improving current equipment. 32 Infrastructure projects pertaining to the parks, streets, water, or wastewater departments are also in the works.

Some of the other project highlights included the courtroom restoration project, replacing fire station #2, remodeling the police dispatch center, jail restoration, and revamping some of the park facilities.
