The Collinsville City Council announced the winners of its snowplow naming vote during its meeting on Feb. 14.

In December, the Collinsville Public Works Department asked city residents to submit names for its fleet of snowplows. In mid-January, the PWD sent out a new survey featuring its favorite initial submissions and asked city residents to vote for their favorites.

At the council meeting, the PWD announced the final names for the snowplows and published a video on Facebook showcasing both the vehicles and their new names alongside the department members who drive them to clear the city's roads.

"[The department] highly enjoyed doing this video," said Deputy City Manager Derek Jackson. "So it's great for them to work with us on this. And they do a great job clearing the streets."

The names of the Collinsville snowplows are as follows: Snowy Pushy Thingy, Snowbegone Kenobi, Edward Blizzardhands, Plowy McPlow Face, The Big LePlowski, Scoop Doggy Dog, Alice Scooper, Clearopathra, and Go Get'em Gregg for the backup truck. The names were respectively submitted by Stewart D., Luke S., Bailey M., Emma J., Ryan D., Tracy C., Yvonne B., Kelton G., and Shara T.

The PWD also discussed another new idea for adding live trackers to its snowplows. The vehicles' routes and progress are uploaded to a virtual map on Collinsville's official website, so residents can go online and watch their favorite snowplows clear snowy roads anywhere in the city.
