City of Jerseyville City Council met Oct. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Kevin Stork called the regular session of the Jerseyville City Council to order Tuesday, October 17TH at City Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL 

Present were Commissioners Anthony Steckel, Steve Pohlman, Zachary Crawford, John Miles, and Mayor Stork. City Attorney William Strang was present. City Clerk Denise Hayes took minutes.

Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and pledge of allegiance was recited.

MINUTES 

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

BILLS 

A motion was made by Comm. Steckel, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the bills as presented for October 17, 2023, in the amount of $405,151.75. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS 

A. A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Miles to approve a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Board from October 13th of a commercial building improvement grant for a large project submitted by Barbara Tracy and Alton Ledwig for façade improvements at 203 South State St. Director of Building and Zoning Soer stated they plan on replacing front window, front door, and tuckpointing with a total project cost of $27,400.00. The maximum reimbursement will be $25,000.00 and will be paid upon completion of the project and after invoices have been submitted. Roll call vote showed Pohlman aye, Crawford aye, Steckel abstain, Miles aye, and Mayor Stork aye. Motion carried.

B. A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Miles, to approve an Illinois Department of Transportation Local Public Agency amendment #1 to joint funding agreement for Hollow Avenue roadway improvements project and authorization of Mayor, City Clerk, and Director of Public Works to sign related documents. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

C. A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Steckel to approve the appointment of Matt Rogers to the fire department. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

OTHER BUSINESS: Mayor Stork mentioned Boys Basketball registration deadline is October 28th and the next Council meeting will be held Monday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m. due to trick or treating to be held Tuesday, October 31st.

PUBLIC COMMENT – None

ADJOURNMENT: Being no other business to be discussed, a motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to adjourn the meeting at 6:07 p.m. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
