City of Edwardsville Board of Fire & Police Commissioners met May 21, 22 and 23

Here are the minutes provided by the commissioners:

A series of Special Meetings convened over three afternoon/evenings of the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners beginning May 21 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. in the EPD Conference Room at the Edwardsville Public Safety Building with Chairman, John W. McCracken, presiding. 

Commissioners Attending: John W. McCracken, John Cunningham, Jean Hughes, Mary Ann Harris and Roger L. Huber Also Attending: Director of Police, Chief Mike Fillback 

Administrative: (Comment) The purpose of these meetings were to conduct Oral Interviews for entry-level applicants deemed to have good-faith educational credentials to qualify for consideration for employment to the rank of Probationary Patrol Officer with the Edwardsville Police Department. 

At 5:05 pm, Commissioner Harris moved to adjourn to Closed Session with a second by Commissioner Hughes to conduct Oral Interviews. Motion carried. 

The Board discussed the details of information uncovered by Investigators into the pre-employment background investigation for Candidate Makayla Liddel-Tines 

At 7:30 pm after the conclusion of Oral Interviews, Commissioner Harris arose from Closed Session and moved to return to Open Session. The Motion was seconded by Commissioner Hughes which carried unanimously. 

Commissioner Huber made a Motion to rescind the Conditional Offer of Employment that had been tendered to Liddel-Tines and proceed no further with any additional background investigation and strike her name from the Hiring Eligibility List. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the Motion which carried without dissent. 

Closed Sessions of the board were resumed over the next two afternoon/evenings on May 22 and May 23 to orally interview a total (12) entry-level applicants. 

Upon return to Open Session on May 23 and after the conclusion of interviews, further discussion and scoring, Commissioner Harris made a Motion to approve an Initial Hiring List comprised of eight (8) individuals now eligible for further consideration for possible hiring by the EPD, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part of these Minutes. Commissioner Hughes seconded the Motion, which carried unanimously. 

With no further business to be conducted, the Meeting(s) were adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
